St Fagans National Museum
St Fagans National Museum is one of Europe's leading open-air museums and Wales' most visited heritage attraction. Nestled in the charming village of St Fagans, this museum offers a fascinating peek into the country's history, culture, and lifestyle.
History of St Fagans National Museum
Opened in 1948, St Fagans National Museum, or "Amgueddfa Werin Sain Ffagan" in Welsh, is located on the grounds of the stunning 16th-century St Fagans Castle, a donation by the Earl of Plymouth.
The museum tells a thousand years of Welsh history, featuring over forty original buildings from different historical periods that have been re-erected on the site.
St Fagans National Museum was originally named the Welsh Folk Museum and it’s also one of the world's first open-air museums. Its 100 acres is a journey through time, showcasing dwellings from Celtic times to the present day, each building meticulously moved and rebuilt, brick by brick.
