Pink Storage Opens New Self Storage Facility | Self Storage in Telford gets a boost as Pink Storage Opens

Last month (February 2025) saw the opening of a new Pink Storage facility at a new location in Telford, Shropshire. The much needed showcase storage facility opened to much local acclaim.
It's the business' 20th self storage site, and completely transforms a 35,000 sq ft industrial site on the Halesfield Industrial Estate.
About Pink Storage Telford
The new site boasts 189 self storage container units.
Container storage is becoming increasingly popular: container units are designed to be both resilient and waterproof. If they can keep transported goods safe and dry at sea, doing the same for goods and belongings in Telford presents far less of a challenge.
They are adapted by Pink Storage, and are new when installed, not battered on the open seas. (Customers often note how beautifully clean their units are upon arrival.) Each is 160 square feet, roughly enough space for the contents of a three bedroom house. And as they allow storers to drive up to the storage for loading and unloading, container storage has become a firm self-storage favourite. The container storage arrangement is generally easier for users to manage than indoor, warehouse type self storage units, which force users to access multiple floors and navigate corridors with their items for storage.
Container storage generally removes the struggle, offering users more privacy and control.
Pink Storage prides itself on the levels of automation and security the business has implemented for customer ease at its sites, and Telford is no exception. ANPR-controlled gates open automatically by looking at the vehicle registration, recording comings and goings. State of the art security includes 24/7 CCTV monitoring.
They have even made signing up easy, with an automated online system that means people can be signed up in minutes, and are allocated a unit and an access pin code unique to them.
Why would Pink Storage invest £680 thousand in Telford?
Telford is the largest and most rapidly growing town in Shropshire. The town has attracted investment including a £1 billion housing investment. Around 239 thousand people now call Telford home, a figure which has grown19.3% since 2002, making it a vibrant place to live and work. The population looks set to further rise by 30 thousand over the next two decades.
Although it's considered a 'new town' Telford has a rich history, notably its industrial history. The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site alone attracts 1.3 million visitors annually.
It has great amenities, stunning countryside on its doorstep and is incredibly well connected to other towns in the area. It has also produced its fair share of celebrities, including 80s pop star Carol Decker, lead singer with T'Pau.
Importantly for everyone who lives there, Telford has a thriving business community. According to Invest Telford, it's home to over 6,250 businesses, from micro start-ups to large multi-nationals, boasting employment levels above the national average. They estimate that around 600 new businesses start here every year.
Doubtless Telford's accessibility does nothing but enhance its appeal. The M54 is Telford's own motorway, connecting the region to Wolverhampton and the West Midlands via the M6. According to Invest Telford, more than £1 billion of capital investment has been made to improve connectivity and facilities.
With all of those people and businesses, moving and growing populations, demand for good quality self storage facilities has never been higher.
The Halesfield Industrial Estate
On a site that once homed both farmland and Kemberton Colliery, Halesfield Industrial Estate, which has more than 450 Acres of built space, was once considered the manufacturing backwater of Telford's industrial areas.
New schemes by developers have seen that industrial stock refurbished, and investment has not been limited to ‘facelifts’ of old buildings. Competition for spaces has intense, and the site is now home to gaming specialists, alongside newer types of industrial producers and technologies, which has created a diverse and exciting business landscape.
The knock on from the pandemic, along with this growth, has seen the prices of warehouse space rise, making Pink Storage’s self storage a very welcome alternative for the area, as well as to Telford in general.
Pink Storage Welcomed
Local papers were quick to pick up on Pink's investment.
This included articles in the Express and Star which focussed on the company's investment in the area , as did the Shropshire Star. Shropshire Live, by contrast, was impressed by the company's growth and facilities, which bodes well for everyone. (Hello Telford also spread the joy!)
(Even the self storage press noted the openings of both Telford and Gorton Road, Manchester.)
