History of Bute Park
Bute Park traces its origins back to the grounds of Cardiff Castle, which was remodelled in the 19th century by the 3rd Marquess of Bute. The park as we know it today was created in 1947 when the 5th Marquess of Bute gifted Cardiff Castle and its surrounding parklands to the people of Cardiff.
Bute Park houses one of the UK's premier tree collections, with over 3,000 individually catalogued specimens, It also hosts the annual RHS Flower Show Cardiff, attracting garden lovers from around the country.
